I see more useful improvements in recent years with designs of bullets that make for better weight retention and controlled expansion than new cartridges making a difference. E.g. Nosler Accubond & Patition, Barnes X-Bullets, Hornady SST, others... Working with these and other outstanding bullets for accuracy, controlled damage to the game and types and loads of propellants, imo, will have a greater positive effect on hunting and rifle shooting sports than new cartridge configurations.

Winchester figured out the whole cartridge arena and exactly what hunters need.........22 Hornet, .220 Swift, .243 Win., .250 Savage (.250-3000), .257 Roberts, .264 Win. Mag., .270 Win., 7x57mm Mauser, .300 Savage, .300 H&H, .300 Win. Mag., .30-06, .308 Win., .338 Win. Mag., .35 Rem., .358 Win., .375 H&H, and .458 Win. Mag......

At least that was the 18 original chamberings for the Pre '64 Model 70's. They should have quit while they were ahead.

As for Ruger, even the guys in Africa think the 375 Ruger is a joke. When Westley & Richards start carrying short mags, I'll be convinced.
How about this "want short mag power, with one extra round?? buy hornadys lightmags same 270, just a bit faster"

Ever wonder why you see so many on the used rack??

If the WSM's are not popular, why is most of the bullets from Cabelas "sold out". Is it 1) they are not popular and so they dont order as much, and they sold all of them? 2) they are very popular and people are buying them?

Another question: Why is Federal creating so many options for the WSM vs, there counterpart?

Just curious.

BTW: I love the .270 win, and I own a 300WSM.
