I just traded for a revolver. An F.I.E. Tex .22 cal. I had never heard of the name and would like to know if any of you have . And I was wondering if it could be modified to shoot 22 mag cartridges or would that be a bad idea or could a person get a cylinder that would use the mags. This is my first revolver and just want to know anything you can tell me about it. Thanks.

I had to work on one of those things once. Not trying to burst your bubble, but you will be lucky if you get it to shoot 22 LR without falling apart, much less 22 WMR. I seriously hope whatever you traded for it was not worth very much.

Let me refresh my memory. FIE is or was Firearms Import Export Corp. They were in Hialeah Florida. In 1990 they became QFI(Quality Firearms Corp.)when most of FIE's models were discontinued and are located in Opa Locka Florida now.FIE were very cheaply made guns. There were different models. The Arminius were a pot metal d/a revolver. These were made in 22,22mag,38spl and the 357 mag.
Other models were. Buffalo Scout,Hombre s/a rev.,Little Ranger,Super Titan II(semi auto),Titan Tiger d/a rev.Model TZ75 d/a semi auto and probably the one you have the Texas Ranger which were made from 1983-1990. They did have a convertible model in this Texas Ranger.Since they made the convertible model your cylinder should be long enough to accept the 22 mag cartridge. It would have to be reamed by a gunsmith to take the mag cart.It would probably be more then it's worth. This is probably not what you wanted to hear about these FIE's.They were probably a little better then the RG's(Rohms)but not much.I lived in South Florida and worked at a local gunshop for awhile. The shop I worked at refused to carry FIE guns because they were so cheaply made.Universal Firearms were right around the corner too. They turned out allot of MI Carbines. They are probably gone by now too.
If you want a S/A Revolver Convertible invest in the Ruger Single Six.

Hey Frizzellr, I like your style, you don't hold back words. You call an Ace an Ace and a Spade a Spade. It's a shame they didn't make these in 45 LONG Colt with clips LOL....Opps I reopened that can of worms again LOL. YEP! those FIE's left allot to be desired. If they weighed a little more they would have made good boat anchors

Thanks guys. I wanted to hear the truth, thats why I asked here. I dont have a great investment, abuot 40 deniros. I was kinda wondering about the quality when I seen it did'nt have adjustable sights.I'll just leave it alone and shoot it till it wears out (which dosen't sound like it will be long).

larmar g You have a good attitude.Granted it's not the best or a well made gun but for plinking it should be fine. You have 40.00 in it. Chalk it up to experience. You usually get what you pay for.If nothing else you have a conversation piece.LOL.
GOOD LUCK with it.

Just be careful shooting it. Those things had a bad reputation for the cylinder starting to wobble on the base pin which would cause lead shavings to spray from the cylinder gap.
