...just flat shoots! ????

My dad just bought a Remington 700 ADL synthetic .270, on a end of year sale for a good price. It came with a Tasco 3-9 mounted on it. (He is going to put a Leupold on it soon).
So he decides he will take it out to the range and break it in, and see how it does. He's planning on loading some rounds soon for it to see what shoots best, but for now, he just bought a few boxes of Remington 130gr factory loads.

Well, while shooting it last week, breaking it in....low and behold...

LOL...not too bad for right out of the box, and factory ammo!!! No trigger work (yet), no handloads, and an average scope....go figure...

I guess some times you just get a good one I told him to hang on to that one! Some folks spend an awful lot of money to get them to shoot like that. Love those 700's.
I will give credit to my dad, he is an excellent shooter, and that always helps.

My grandfather gave me a Winchester M70 some years ago. That thing will shoot those 130 grain Remington corelocts well within 1" at 100 yards. Those simple, cheap bullets sure are accurate. Don't use them to hunt elk but it sure gives great confidence in your rifle when you see that on paper.
Center to center that group looks to be well under 1/2". Real nice!

Every centerfire rifle I own can shoot 1" or better at 100yds with a few being downright tack drivers with factory ammo. My best one is the Remington 700 in 7 rem mag. That one puts them in the same hole (1/8" center to center) with Federal 140 trophybonded bearclaw and hornady custom in 139.

well.....er....aahhh....so...I'm confused, why take off a perfectly good tasco scope and spend a lot of money on another scope to replace it???....do you really think the higher priced scope is going to deliver better groups??

Vapodog you don't really think anyone is going to admit shooting a tasco do you . Why a good scope would be shooting a group half that size . Kind of looks like he did let one get away from him .

LOL Halcon....
Vapodog....no I don't think he's interested in improving on that group....in fact, I think he's hoping to find a handload that will shoot that well!!! As far as the scope...he's not upgrading for group size...you want to buy the tasco? It's hardly used
I have a couple guns that will shoot like that also...one with factory ammo, on with handloads. I think some guns are just shooters. Some you can make into a shooter, and some it doesn't make a difference what you do, they still won't shoot like that.
Regardless, I thought I'd post that for you guys to see....especially folks looking to buy a new inexpensive gun. Looks like a good gun for that kind of money(under $400).

WV Hunter, look at the lot number on the end flap (or wherever) on that box of ammo, and go get a case of it of the same lot!! You MAY NEVER SEE a factory load that shoots like that again!!

Keep yore powder dry!!
