.270 or .30-06?

I don't think one is better then the other (I'll say the same for the 280 Rem.). The 30-06 has the advantage if you want to use heavier bullets for larger game, but for deer and varmints that's not going to be an issue. Both are available in a lot of rifles.Finding ammo shouldn't be a problem for eitherof them. They're both classic cartridges that will work great. A 130 gr. bullet from a 270 or a 150 gr. bulletfrom a 30-06 is flat out deer poison. Either are good rounds. I would personally go for the 30-06 just because you can get heavier bullets for it and go for larger game but on the other hand im not recoil shy one bit. Im not gonna tell you to get one or the other. They are both great rounds. Pick whichever one YOU like better.

For deer and varmints, it is a crap shoot, but if you intend to hunt any larger game that might require more bullet weight, a 30-06 might be a better way to go.
I personally haven't found anything in North America that a 270 wouldn't kill.

This is one that has really been beat quite throughly to death on here several times before in the past.
Give the search function a go. You'll find plenty of arguements, fights, opinions, and all other sorts of yarns, lies, truths, confessions and piles of crap.
But just for laughs... the 30-06 is still the superior cartridge. If you really can't decide between the two... then you ought to just decide on a .280.

I have been reading on both. As all have said...they are pretty equal. I have heard that the .270 has a flatter trajectory. Not sure on that...I have heard that the .280 is also a great round....but hard to find....is that true? What is everyones opinion..?
