Hey all, just wanted to get your opinion on ammo for the 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser. Have heard good thoughts on the Remington Core-Lockt. I am soon to buy a new stock for my mauser and with that a few boxes of ammo. I'm hoping to get this done soon so that maybe I will be able to hunt the last week of deer season with the Mauser. I'm in hopes of going to the lease and seeing which ammunition shoots the best and will probably start using that. Thanks for your replies.

The Remington will work fine. About all the ammo you can get is loaded down for weaker actions. I don't know which action you have, however if its strong enough to handle modern pressures I would try the Norma 120 grain ballistic tip load. It shoots much flatter, has less recoil and is plenty for deer.

For stoked hunting loads check out Norma and Sellier & Belliot ammo. Just make sure their safe in your Swede. I have handloaded the 140 gr corlokts with great accuaracy using h380 and IMR 4350.
