Default did i get a good deal?

i just bought a winchester model 94 .30-30 for $300, its in great condition, only a few scratches on the stock. the guy said it was made in the1970s. i figured since they arent makin them anymore i should buy one, so i did, and im pleased with how it shoots.

My dad has an winchester 94, I took hunt when I first started, I am hoping he would give it to me but he is retiring in a few years and I don't see him doing it, I liked how it shots for me, open site when I could see better. so I think it is a good deal.

Ones made before 1964 are worth more, but that is not a bad deal at all. I had one in .44 Magnum, and it was a great rifle for shooting armadillos when I lived in Texas!

That sounds like a descent deal to me. As long as it is what you wanted and it works for you, then you got a good deal. I am seeing that same rifle around here going for $600-$1000 now, when a couple of years ago I could have gotten a nice one for $150 .

If the 94 is a pre64 it will have a screw in front of the lever a couple inches. Does it still have the front sight shroud, most of them get knock off.
