Adding a scope to an old 336
I bought an old ca. 1948 marlin 336 30-30 at a auction and am considering adding a scope to the gun to extend it's effective range for whitetail. This gun is not drilled/tapped for scope mounts and I'd rather not do this to the gun if possible. Anyone know of some options to put some scope mounts on this rifle without drilling holes in it?

There aren't any scope mounts on market for marlin 366 without reciever being drilled and tapped that I'm aware of. There might be just I havn't seen em. Is it nostalgic value or collector value you don't want to hurt?
You could get a smith to custom make 1 but it would be cost prohibitive.

Williams makes a side mount for that rifle that uses the exsisting receiver holes, it is available through Brownells, part # 962-070-071AA and sells for $47.95, phone # 800-741-0015.
