RE: Cabela's Scopes??
I just got off the chat line with a Cabela's rep. He wouldn't tell me who makes the scopes(says its a TOP SECRET) but he did say that they were made in Japan. They carry a limited lifetime as warranty aswell.
I think I may be leaning toward Burris roughly the same price and probably better???
I do not like anything made in Japan(including Brownings).

I think the Pine Ridge series are made in China. However I just read a good report on scopes and even though the are made in China, They rated the Pine Ridge series as a tough as nails scope and Cabelas will stand behind anything they sell.I am Sure thier higher priced scopes are well made and a good buy. I am going to try a Pine ridge during the off season and see how it stands up.

RE: Cabela's Scopes??
I've been wrestling with the same question. I have a pair of alaskan guide binoculars and love them.....as do all of my friends. The one drawback I see with the AG scopes is that they seem real heavy, compared to similiar Leupold. I also considered the outfitter scope, but then you are paying the same money as for a leupold...Let us know how you like the AG scope if you get one...I do have a pine ridge scope on my Knight 50 cal muzzleloader, no problems so far....and cabelas does stand behind their gear, but to the degree of a leupold???

The idea of eschewing anything made in Japan is about 50 years out of date. I admit that we taught them the concept of quality control, but it is a lesson they learned well. As a matter of fact, they do a BETTER job of engraving on high-grade guns than the European factories do....(better manual dexterity!!)
