Best Gun

alot of guns will do it with a well placed shot...if your good u can head shoot and not waste any meat..but thats a pretty small target...anything from a 243 on up will kill a deer with power to spare...i personally like the 3006..hits em like a train! i havent had a good lung hit deer make it over 25 yds...most drop where they stand...but im not one to worry about a few pounds of meat me and my dad both use 3006s and both like explosive bullets like a nosler ballistic tip or a good hollow point...hunting close range like we do and having guys that would probally shoot a deer if it ran by them even fatally wounded we like the extra shock and such the more explosive bullets give...and even at under 50yds the holes arent that big...

Deerhunter89 I doubt you could ask that question of ten hunters and get even five of them to agree . Everyone has thier own idea of the perfect gun and thats the way it is ,you could talk all day and never change thier mind . Thats why everyone like this kind of question because they can all get a say .

Ruin meat? I've heard this question many times. What mear is really ruined when the shot is properly placed into the heart or lungs? I've used 308's, 300wthby's,270's ,30-06 & 7mm mag and never ruined meat.
If you worry about ruining meat I would suggest not taking a shoulder shot.
