Check out Australia fire arms and violent crimes eachup 400% in the first 6 mos after"all" of the self loading guns were turned in. I think rimfire single shots are allowed to be kept in police lockers or somthing like that.

I truely beleive in my heart that one of the biggest reasons the United States has never been attacked on our own soil is b/c everyone knows that every other house has weapons.

Larry the Cable guy says it best.

"If you can blame a gun for killing someone, I can blame my pencil for misspelled words"

Would Banning Firearms Reduce Murder ?

Get real! Just look at merry old England! They did, and violent crimes have more than doubled! Now that a person can no longer legally defend himself, the criminals are having a field day! Only the law-abiding tend to obey laws.............

In addition, the idea of banning guns is more utopian than even communism. Guns CAN"T be banned, any moreso than nuclear weapons. Someone will always have both of them, and we don't want it to be just the bad guys!

Believe it or not but we have more guns per person than you have in the U.S. up here in Canada yet the percentage of crimes where a firearm is used is far less. Most of the illegal firarms (esp. handguns) are smuggled in from the U.S..There are stats that can explain, or at least try to explain, everything. It is up to the responsible gun owners in all countries to continue to stand up for their ownership of firearms. Perhaps if thesappy Judicial systems in both of our countries would stand by harsher sentences for those who use firearms to commit a crime, there would be a greater effect on this problem.

I'm glad to see that we all agree. I put this out there incase any of you guys have one of those friends or family that insists that guns kill people. The facts point to the exact opposite. There is a lot of blind leading the blind these days.

I read this quote once and I think it is the best ever and fits quite nicely in this topic:

The power of accurate observation is often interpreted as cynicism by those that have not got it yet. -George Shaw

Crime levels are high in large cities like Boston, NY, etc. where you have a significant portion of the population being unemployed or making a living doing illegal things. If the cities had enough money to put COPs in the street on foot patrol, or if we could give decent jobs to everybody the general level of crime will go down.

Banning firearms will not solve any problems. Even if all firearms vanish by some sort of magic act, bad people will use 2x4, lead pipe, knives, or who knows what to commit their crime.

Maybe you all have not noticed, due to the amount of publicity a violent crime gets from the driveby media, but violent crime is far less in the U.S. today than it was twenty to thirty years ago, on a per-capita basis. And in those jurisdictions where handgun carry has been legitimized, the incidence of such things has dropped very dramatically. Florida is a good example of this!
