Dragunov style vs. regular pistol grip stock
I have another thread floating around about my interest in Choate pistol grips but ever since a member has offered to sell me his Dragunov I have become intersted in them, probably because they're "weird" and different.
Is there any functional advantage to the Dragunov style or is it purely cosmetic?

RE: Dragunov style vs. regular pistol grip stock
They (as with the pistol grip stocks) will put your trigger hand in a different position. Some like it, some don't. I personally feel it's a better method of holding a rifle, to me it feels more natural. I don't however like the way it looks especially on a hunting rifle. With those I prefer a nice standard wood stock...but that's just me.
I tend to keep the style the way it was designed. If it came with a pistol grip stock (or a Dragunov) then I keep it that way. If it came with a standard stock I keep it like that.
It all boils down to personal preference...get what you like.

A skeletonized Druganov stock is more lightweight than a solid wood stock. It's a small weight reduction, but it's the only advantage I can see other than personal preference. I like the sporter stocks myself, even my AK has a sporter stock.
