Good purchase! I love my Ruger M77 MKII.

This picture should help you get the bolt out:

Got the Ruger M77 Mark II stainless / syn. about 7 years ago in .308.

It is a sweet shooter, accurate, and has never had a trigger job.

I love it. But then again I love all my guns.

Last year I bought the M77 compact / stainless / laminate in .243. It is sweet.

I now own 3 Rugers. Just bought a SuperRed Hawk in .480. RUGER.

"I have never owned a Ruger that didn't need a trigger job before I could shoot it well."

Mine has the wood stock and is in .300 Win Mag. i did the trigger job on mine myself. It breaks like glass at two pounds, six ounces. Often use it for long shots on coyotes.

Congrats! I believe you made a GREAT selection. I bought a Ruger compact for my wife last year in .308... may get myself one this year. Good luck.

Ah haaaaaaaaa! I got it now. The screw that holds the bolt release on was not flush and it was holding the release down. I adjusted it (pushed back the spring to reset it) to be flush with the release and now it will release the bolt with ease. I felt so dumb. But I knew something wasn't right. I can't wait till this afternoon. I'm taking it to the range for some break in. My wife asked me if I was going to sleep with it last night. I told her no. But I would be dreaming about it. ALL NIGHT LONG!!!!
