I put the bead on the target, where i want to hit. The most important thing is being consistent whatever you do.

The 60-0clock hold is ok for target shooting where you align the bullseye on top of the front sight (pumpkin on a post) but its not so good when shooting things other than paper. If you bullseye is 6" in diameter, your gun is actually shooting 3" high at that range. Target shooters use the 6-0clock hold because its much easier than trying to align with center. There is a downside even for target shooting- sun position. The position of the sun relative to the target will shrink or enlarge the shooters perception of the target. Mirage will also distort and move the target, but its a problem with both center hold and 60-clock hold.

The advantage of center holding is that the center of the target is always the center, regardless of sun position. Its more difficult to get a consistant sight picture from one shot to the next, but it can be done with lots ofpractice.
