pre-war walther 25 auto
This piece will be coming to the chuckwagon pretty soon. It has very little of the original finish left, but no deep pitting. It looks like it rode in a pocket about 50 years at least. Initially, I just ignored it because I assumed the bore would be corroded & pitted, but on close exam, I could find nothing wrong with the bore. Rifling is excellent, in fact, I will need better optics than my reading glasses to find the wear and tear. The trigger was so light and crisp that I was not expecting it. The shop believes this was made in the Weimar era, sometime between 1922-1933. I am thinkin' about having it reblued. I am skeptical that in its worn finish that it would ever be worth much. Any insights on that?
Coincidentally, the most serious work this piece will get is an occasional finishing shot on small critters. It will lead a pampered, semi-retired life here.
