Double A - good eye you have there. You too might want to get one of these bad boyz and try your hand at cumpetitvly shooting. That is a custom one-off 3 stage recoil designed for me by the Navy Seals armorer. The material it is constructed of is classified.

low temp - you too are one of the sharper knives in the drawer! I have experimented with several different porting systems, but after chronoing each I found I had lost a bit of velocity and I will not tolerate that. I did fit a BOSS type system to a barrel as an experiment but the muzzle blast kept blowing it off. I even tried welding it on but I believe that the extreme muzzle flash was vaporizing the weld and it would then blow off on the very next shot.

Uncle matt, Have you tried A-dapting a Super Soaker to fit the underside of the barrel to help cool that pesky weld on your boss? Perhaps something similarto the way40mm grenade launchers can be mounted under barrel on a M16? Maybe you could freeze the pellets before firing them?Just a couplethoughts.. Did you have to tweak and adjust the boss a lot before you were shooting sub MOA groups of pellets at 60, 80 and 150 yards?

.22 lr cheap and accurate depending on your gun.

Funny you should mention the recoil pad, my pellet rifle has more recoil than my .22....

low temp - you have some good ideas and I may just assign you a position on my technical advisory board. Although your super soaker idea is good in theory, as I though also, when I tried firing the beast and doing a make shift water quench.............it cause some distortion in the barrel material and an extreme amount of steam. The steam which blew in my lead technical assistant's face and caused great burns.

After my tech asst got out of the burn ward and completed therapy, we moved our experiment to a hybredceramic weld which although it has shown great promise- is QUITE cost prohibitive. We will look further into developing this technology after we start recieving this year's grant funds.

More later
