Although your super soaker idea is good in theory, as I though also, when I tried firing the beast and doing a make shift water quench.............it cause some distortion in the barrel material and an extreme amount of steam. The steam which blew in my lead technical assistant's face and caused great burns.

After my tech asst got out of the burn ward and completed therapy, we moved our experiment to a hybredceramic weld which although it has shown great promise- is QUITE cost prohibitive. We will look further into developing this technology after we start recieving this year's grant funds.
