Default Mossberg 702 or Remington 597?

Does anyone have any experience with either of these rifles and which would you recommend? I have handled both but haven't shot either one.

I have a Remington 597 and I think it's a turd, basically. The trigger is terrible, the clip doesn't feed worth a crap andit jams about every 6th or 7th shot.

I'd say get a Ruger 10/22.

Yea I have the same problem, it gives me great groups. How ever who wants a gun that jams after a couple shots?? I thought it was the clip, I bought a new clip. Then I thought maybe it was the guide rods I loosened them up so they were not bent. Then I thought it was just super dirty took the guy all apart and sprayed it with Starting flood (breaks grease down good) nope that wasnt it either so now its just a dust collector

Actually you can beat a 10/22. I have 2 597's in 22lr and they are the most accurate 22 semi autos i have. between the immediate family there are 3 10/22's and my 597's will out shoot them all.

Just to let everyone know, I got the Mossberg 702. And let me just say it's actually very accurate. Functioning was flawless through about 400 rounds with the only malfunctions being caused by ammo failures (Thunderbolt). Great gun for $99 with a 4x32 scope mounted and bore sighted. (thanx Dicks sporting goods)

i have shot the mossberg 702 and i am very impressed. it is problably the most accurate GUN i have ever shot. i am thinking of getting the 802 because my friend already has the 702. I would take the $99 702 over alot of many other popular .22s.
