I have had both a 835 and 870but still have the 870. Mossberg is a great reliable gun for the money but I just feel the 870 is the better pump. If you love Mossbergs you should get the Mossberg.

I have both a 870 and a 500. I like them both equally. I have a rifled cantilever barrel on the 500 with a scope and it's a tack driver with Lightfield slugs. The 870 has a smooth bore slug barrel with iron sights. I use it in heavy cover. Both great guns.

I have a 835 and for turkey hunting I think it is one of the best turkey shotguns out there. Of course the 500 is a proven shotgun, and well millions upon millions of 870s have been purchased, that alone tells me something. But overall, you can't go wrong with any of them

i have a mossberg 500 20 ga and both my grandpa and i can go out at up to 50 yards and shoot a box of lightfields that all touch each other in the 9 and 10x rings with mossberg's iron sights...that just amazes me, and to this day i have never shot more than once on a single deer in 16 attmepts (16 shots/16 kills) using that gun

-it was love at first shot
