Hey Gator1, I can only speak for the Mossberg 835 Ulti Mag, as I own one. It has been a truly dependable shotgun, very rugged, shoots great patterns, and brings down game at far distances. As far as chokes, I dont think mod. is good for turkeys, as you would want a good close knit pattern, so my choke is a comp n choke. However, Mossberg makes an exellent Ulti XXX super full choke that is an extended tube like the comp n choke. I have one of these also. For ducks, I shoot Mossbergs X full choke made for steel shot.
I use my gun on anything, it is so virsatle, with all the different chokes it comes with. My comp n choke was a gift, the rest of them are all Mossberg factory chokes which are excellent patterns. Of course different brand shells, load and shot size always plays into how your patterns look at different ranges. Always try out different shells when patterning your gun.
I am sorry I have no opinion on Remington, but I do hear good reviews on it also. But I tell you, not only is the Ulti Mag 835 an excellent shotgun, if you ever need any kind of info, The Mossberg staff is always ready to give you a hand and comes with a 10 year warranty. Ya cant beat that.
