Shotgun rifled barrels (twist)
The rifled shotgun barrels on the market today are available in:
24" with 1-35 twist (hastings 12 ga, Savage)
22 with 1-28 twist (Browning Gold)
21 with 1-35 twist (Remington)
22 with 1-24 twist (Hastings 20 ga)
22 with ?-? twist (Winchester SX2)
I am looking at buying a new gun or just a barrel for my 1100 (12ga). I was wanting to shoot some of the new high performance slugs like Winchester Partition Gold, Silver tip or maybe the new Remington slug. Does anyone have any knowledge of what twist works better with these type of slugs? I would even go with a new 20ga if it is known that the 1-24 twist on a 20 ga holds a better pattern with the high tech slugs.
or
Is it just pick one and hope for the best? I know that shotguns have a mind of there own when it comes to shooting slugs.

RE: Shotgun rifled barrels (twist)
For what its worth I have had what I would consider excellent results with the 1-28 twist.
Tar-Hunt Rifles Inc. makers of one of the most accurate slug shooting guns states, "We tested new sabot technology by firing thousands of rounds out or our heavy bench rest slug guns and have decided to use a 1-23 twist rate on our standard 20 ga. model. The 1-28 is the best twist for the 12 ga. sabot slugs."
