What are your plans for this gun, varminting, deer/antelope, etc? I'd recommend spacing your cartridges. I.E. you already have a big bore, medium bore shotgun and rimfire. I'd say 223, 22-250 or 243.

What's wrong with the 270 at distances? You can pretty much hunt anything in the lower 48 with it. Now if you just want more pop the 06, 7mm magnum, 300 winmag are all good choices. For a cross-over deer/varmint gun the 243 or 25-06 are great choices. The 25-06's advantage over the 243 is the 120 gr bullet.

I'd look for a nice, used 30-378 or one of the fast varmint calibers like the 22-250.

I'd say the 338 Win mag, it'll take over where the 270 leaves off and cover your bases all the way up to the 375 H&H. You'll notice I didn't mention any short Magnums as I don't expect any of them to survive a very long time.
