Good for you. I just bought one, haven't had a chance to try it out yet though. Can't wait, seems like it should do the job for anything I need.
BTW, first post, glad to be here.

It's the best centerfire gun/caliber in my safe. I pack around 10-12 guns in there & that's the last one I would part with if I was in a financial hole real bad.
The only negative with WSM's is the price of cartridges. I buy the least expensive ones... ie... Winchester or Federal.

Buckmaster68-
Ihave one and love it! Sold my .35 Whelen and .270 Winand purchased the .300WSM.
It's extremely accurate, recoil is very tolerable and has all the options of .308 cal. bullets!!! 125 grains to 220 if you want. If you load as I do, you can do alot with the .300WSM.
I bought itbecuase I wanted onerifle that I could hunt all over with. Deer anywhere ( specially those large saskatchawan/alberta ones!), elk, moose and bear. Comfortable enough to take up a mountain for sheep/goat and can kill one from a long way off. The animal of a lifetime shows up at 425 yards on the last day and the last thing I want to worry about is my rifle's ability to make the shot/kill at that distance. I only want to worry about my skills, not the rifle's!
Enjoy the cartridge and good luck with it!!!
