My mathews switchback xt is the most versatle weapon I own.
I use it on almost everything I hunt for.

30/06 in a Rem 700 with great glass AND good iron sights with a set of high quality quick detachable mounts/rings. And oh yeah, a real nice sling.
Many other choices I'd personally pick for myself, but for the average Joe to hunt in as many places as possible......the above would serve very well.

Best gun in the woods... a .308 in a lever or a pump.

Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun for the close in stuff and a Browning BLR .358 Winchester for the medium to long range.
