All animals put off some heat.
You can sometimes see this in perfect conditions.
If you can seethe "mirage" the conditions are usuallywell enoughtoattempt the "Over Yonder" shot.
Provided you have the skill.

In the South "Over Yonder" means "farther than shooting distance."

Yes Sir. But worthy of mastering.
If you can not "feel"your pulseyour form "may" need work.
Not important for99% ofshots but those that wish for maximum consistency must learn this "old" technique.
IMO

Also learn to spot creatures bythe mirage left bybody heat.
This may not help your shooting but will help you read nature which is most important.
That is kinda a bunch of hooey. Old Wives tale type stuff.

You aren't going to be spotting animals by their heat waves they give off! lol. Man where did this guy come from? The only time heat mirage is really an issue is in warm weather at 200+ yards.

Oh and after further consideration, Ive determined that you, sir, are smoking crack!!!

I can outshoot you with my .22lr vs your .308 @ 200

So you have never spotted a Deer by the "steam" coming off its back???
You have never seen a coyote feeding over a carcus totaly enveloped in a white cloud???
Have you ever even payed attention to Mother Nature???

Do you even shoot beyond 200 Yards yourself???

Old Wives Tales. They are for healing and cleaning. And do work, mostly.
Do not confusewith old Techniques.

I come from the English, Irish and Cherokeeon my mothers side.
From the Bretons and Irish on my Dads side.
Ilearned all my shooting skills from my Grandfatherwhom served as a sharpshooter in WWII.
He learned from his father that served in WW1.
My grandad told me that a British fellow had taught his 4th great uncle or some suchduring the Civil War.
""Shadrack"(my ancestor)killed "hundreds" of "Yankee" in excess of 800 yards(Yonder Shots)."Or so it's said.

If you close your mind to others you are only a fool.

I have a 2 1/2 inch spinner in my yard. It is 60 yards from my front porch. I shoot at a minimum-500 rounds. I aspire to shoot 1000 rounds a month at that spinner. I shoot different 22 rifles. I shoot open sights, and a scope. And I shoot EVERY SHOT LIKE IT IS THE ONLY SHOT. NO RAPID FIRE. Buy some books and settle on your own shooting routine. I use a cadence. And SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT. Tom.

I'm not sure how good of a shot BrutalAttack is but I find that a VERY hard to believe statement.

What kind of groups are you getting out of a .22lr at 200 yards? You are going to be getting a drop of about 6' and I hope the wind isn't blowing. Just the variation of 1 grain of power would causea difference of a couple inches in drop at that range. Unless you are using a really nice target rifle and match grade ammo you aren't going to be getting groups better than a dinner plate at 200 yards. Even with match grade ammo you are going to be lucky to get groups under 4" and that is from a bench rest under perfect conditions.

With the setup in my sig, I can shoot 0.4" groups @ 100 yrds and ~0.6" @ 200 yards off my daypack.

Scout:If you stayed off the crack pipe long enough, you'dprobably stop believing that you have special powers!

Seriously though,I'm a direct descendent of Daniel Boone but that doesn't give me any special powers....at least not that I know of.

Yes you do seem to style yourself as some kind of hillbilly scout or something.

Well, I make my living as a special agent shooting, tracking and trapping animals in the West and I don't need a special predigree to be very proficient at what I do.
