RE: Anyone know about Marlin?
I can't get a semi auto where i live and hunt with it. What other Marlin .22's would you guys go for? Any good reveiws on the marlin model 882SSV?
What about the .22 mags?
I'm looking for pure accuracy. It'll be a squarril hunting gun so i need to make them head shots

My 882ssv will shoot groups you can cover with a nickel at 50 yds. Marlin also makes a 880sq which is regular 22lr. the 882 is 22 mag. I can't see a gun getting much more accurate than the 882ssv.

I don't think Marlin ever made a bad gun. I have a Model 81-DL that I got in a swap many years ago. It has a peep sight and is deadly accurate. Because of its accuracy I chose Marlin for my .22 mag. It also is accurate. My buddy has a Guide Gun in 45-70 and it is a beauty if you can stand the recoil!
I think you have made an excellent choice. Merry Christmas!

The people on the Marlin board are bias, they will never say anything bad about Marlin guns.
Excluding some single shots, a $100 gun will never last and they are made to be cheap and don't last but a few thousand rounds.

I mean no disrespect 3030Win, but you mean to tell us that another $60 dollars spent on a Ruger 10/22 is going to make it last a lifetime? The 10/22 is a fine gun I own one myself, but the Marlin is also a fine gun. Speaking of lasting a lifetime, any .22 will last a lifetime if taken care of. I don't think I've ever seen a .22 barrel shot out before.

It is not too much the price but how they are made. The model 60 is cast aluminum and plastic. Yes, they will last a lifetime if taken care of and not shot alot... We still have some old 22's that were my dads. One is a mostly plastic New Haven bought from sears for about $40 back in the 60's. The other is a Remington 550 which cost about $100-120. The New haven now jams about 5 times per clip, the plastic is stating to crack. And we have had zero problems with the Remingotn. Amazing how much diference $60 made. And yes both guns were taken care of.
