Default 7mm vs. 30-06

Iam needing a gun that will be used for whitetail, elk, and possibly moose. Out of the 7mm and the 30-06, whichis the better. What bullet would you reccomend?

Depends on which 7mm you are talking about. There are at least a dozen.

The 7mm Rem Mag and 30-06 are both great cartridges. The 30-06 has more choices are far as different bullets and weights. The 30-06 can handle most of the game in North America. The 7mm Rem Mag does have more power and better for longer ranges. Both are common so finding ammuntion shouldn't be a problem.I have both caliber and like them both. If I'm going to foresee longer shots I would use the 7mm.Either way you'll make a good choice which ever one you choose to use.

I don't think one is any better than the other, just different. I'll go along with what Ruger Redhawk told you.

Personally, I take the 7mm with a 175 Nosler Partition for elk or moose.

Either one will work equally well.....the game will not care about the slight differences either.

I like the 7mm mag. To me it shoots flatter, but I am a little prejudice.
