The 30-06 is the best all-around caliber for deer within 300 yards. After 300 yards would be the 300WSM. Right now I own a 7 Mag and it's my happy in between gun

270 is one tough chum. Next it would be a 243 and then the 30.06. I will always treasure the 22.

.300 Win Mag is better than .300 WSM, for longer range shots.

Well if I had to choose only one gun I would have to choose my Winchester .270. Although I am falling in love more and more with my 1894 .44 Magnum levergun. But until it kills me a few deer the .270 will remain my go to rifle when killin needs to be done.

I don't believe any of the stuff I hear about the .300 WSM, I don't care about the length of the bolt, I don't care about the weight, the .300 WSM is just a more expensive little brother to the .300 Win Mag.
