Never again will I buy one.Bought a 7mm wsm.It still has a good kick to it with a muzzle brake,Shot it monday,no ear protectors on.Never again.It rattled both my ears and and scared the hell out of me.The recoil I can handle,But the blast and noise no way.It feels like it knocks the wind out of you after shoot it.But with ear plugs it doesn't.I got the adapter for it to remove the brake and it went on monday night.I didn't bother to sight it back in after this,I don't think it would make that much of a difference to drastic for 150 and under yards.Seriously my ears are still ringing as I write this.I do not recomend muzzle brake to anyone on any caliber if you hunt without ear plugs.

I had a guy at the range shoot a muzzle breaked weapon twice in a row right beside me, I wasn't wearing any hearing protection, and I was puking the rest of the day.

I even told him not to shoot until I got hearing protection on, oh well, going deaf isn't all that bad.

I guess you guys dont want to be arond me when I shoot my PLR16.

I doubt that pistol could come close to the noise of a muzzle brake rifle.This gun wouldshake your insides from the blast noise if you sat beside it at the range.It's far worse when shooting it without ear plugs as I have found out.I know damn well I am goanna flinch next time I squeeze that trigger till I get that blast and ringing out of my head.Something like that stays with a person a while I would think.I will take the recoil over the noise anyday.

I'll give ya that one lp...guess thats why when you put one on it says to make sure no one is on ether side of you when firering...my 16 got real loud,had to put the mufs on,ear plugs just didnt work very well...

Yes,mufs work alot better than plugs for sure.But I could feel them sliding back from the blast.I didn't read that part about no one beside you.I wouldn't be surprised if they banned these from the rifle range then if they have that warning.At our range the seats are spaced like8 foot from the other benches.

I work at a rifle range, and would love to see guns with muzzle breaks banned for good, if you can't take the recoil, get a recoil pad, or a smaller caliber, but these muzzle breaks do more harm than good. Too bad the manager doesn't agree.[:-]

Let's see, you claim you work at a rifle range and you dont wear hearing protection while on the firing line? The person got off 2 shots before you realized , hey this is loud? It made you puke the rest of the day?

As far has muzzle braked weapons, I feel that if you dont like them fine, dont sit next to a person shooting one without hearing protetion on and start whining.

I have always made it a practice to put my hearing protection onbefore entering a high noise area such as a gun range firing line.

I use muzzle brakes on my varmint rifles. The brake allows me to watch bullet impact. I probably use it more for the misses, than for the hits(Yes I know I am the only one who misses). I like the brakes. We have our own rifle range, so consideration to others is not an issue. I realize the report is louder, but I always wear earplugs while at our range. When I shoot I wear muffs over the plugs. I also always wear shooting glasses at the range. Notice I say always, not only when I am shooting. I have suffered hearng loss from shooting(Or was it Pink Floyd), I just wish I started using my plugs and muffs earlier. I would even suggest for an avid shooter to have a set of custom earplugs made, they are not that expensive. Go to a Trap or Skeet shoot, there is usually a vendor there that can make the plugs for you. And who knows-you might get in 100 rounds.

When I am at our club(We have 2 skeet, 2 trap ranges, and a 200 meter rifle range), we never have any problems. All of our shooters are courteous, and friendly. I guess it pays to be from a small town. The problem is not the brakes, it is your shooters. Tom.
