If the rifle is just going to be used for target shooting and some varmint hunting then I find no reason in getting stainless steel. Just my personal opinion...

AKHunter18, Remington makes a stainless 700 SPS that is a lot cheaper than the XCR.

as someone mentioned above, stainless will rust. however, stainless will take much much more abuse than regular "blued" barrells.

I personally do not like a stainless rifle, but I prefer a stainless pistol or revolver.
