Remington XCR?
#2
They are very expensive. Over $1000 bucks. They are a model 700, and Model 700s are renowned for their accuracy, and the XCR is an elk rilfe, and because of that, they make it with tough composite, and the caliber selection reflects that. Go to www.remington.com and they have all the info there.

Suggested retail might be over $1000, but the actual selling prices are considerably cheaper. I am looking at getting a 700 XCR as well, and they seem to run $731 to $769 in the stores.
A friend of mine just bought one in .338 RUM. I like the new stock and the Limbsaver recoil pad Remington is using for the XCR. The finish is supposed to be all but immune to corrosion, but I think it's too soon to tell.
In the meantime, make mine a .375 H&H, please.

Awesome gun.
I got the Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation limited edition one in 300 WSM. It is a camo stock and engraved floorplate. Paid $899 for it from CABELAS. It is a 700, which is known to be a great gun. I did have a trigger job to lower the pull weight. Had a problem with a Nikon scope on it that cost me a lot of $ in ammo to figure it out....but got a new one which took care of it.
I wouldn't classify the XCR as just an "elk" gun. It comes in a variety of calibers. The recoil pad is great....it kicks about like my 30-06 does because of the nice pad. It doesn't have a "noisy" stock either like a lot of synthetics (rubbing branches, etc.). It has a "Trinyte" (I think is the name) coating that makes it super durable & resistant to corrosion. Figured I would go ahead & invest in (that's expensive for me)something that would last me as an all-around deer & elk gun.

As far as I know the only disadvanage that I have heard of is that they tend to reflect light a bit. With the right coating on the barrel it keeps it to a minimum. But really there are more advantages than disadvantages since they dont rust.

I'll probably pick up an XCR in 338 RUM before next hunting season. They look like a pretty solid rifle and the stock isn't too bad, I'll have mine tricked up a little though. AR15 style extractor conversion and maybe a muzzle break. THey are selling for around 769 for the 338 RUM at sportsmans warehouse here in anchorage. Walmart has them in 338 win, 300 RUM, and 375 H&H for $731. I know a couple guys that have the 338 RUM XCR and they are very pleased with them.
