Default Mounting Systems?

What type of scope mounts do you all prefer for heavier calibers? I've had one person suggest a dual dovetail system, but in my admitted ignorance, I don't even know how to identify such mounts (or if it's even the best system). Thanks!

I use the standard leupold mounts on my 300ultramags and on my 338x8mmremmag and they work just fine.

I like leupold dual dovetails. But recently have tried warne maxima mag's and like those too. For lighter guns, I like the talley machined one pieces.

I hate burris signatures, lothe weaver crap mounts,

I use Leupold Quick Release, or Dual Dove Tail mounting systems. Good luck.

I hate Leupold rings and bases.Seldom are they square to each other and usually require lapping if you want to get close to a good fit.

IMHO for the money spent you can't beat Warne Maxima rings and bases. They are a steel Weaver style base (usually two piece) and use vertically split steel rings. They cost what A set of Leupolds cost but are ten times the mounting system.

If you have the money to spend ($100for a set of rings and bases)Talley is the way to go.
