full or modified barrel
i currently have a rossi 12 gauge w/ a modified choke. they also offer the barrel with a full choke. should i keep the modified or get the full. i will be hunting doves, quail, squirrels, rabbits, turkeys, mallards, and geese.

RE: full or modified barrel
For all around hunting (like everything listed except turkey), I'd stay with the modified. I've heard turkey hunter's like a real tigh choke to put the most possible pellets into the turkey's kill zone. I used a full last year with steel, and I wasn't happy with my results, so I got it reamed out to a modified.

Turkeys and geese you might want a full choke, but everything else I would want a modified or IC choke. You could use a full, but you would have to be a good shot and it might really mess up the game if you are close and connect good.
I don't believe I would buy a hunting gun without the screw in choke option myself.

You will be compromising with any ONE choke...For quail and rabbits an Improved Cylinder works best for most of the conditions you will encounter...
For doves, either Improved or Modified, depending on the setup...Squirrels running through the woods...Modified...Flattened out on a limb...Full....
Turkey chokes are usually XX-Full and as mentioned with steel shot, many chokes are bored Improved...

RE: full or modified barrel
I don't hunt any bird with more restriction than modified. Although, I don't hunt turkeys. That may be your only reason to use full and if you do, be sure the barrel is rated to use anything other than lead with it. I wouldn't shoot steel out of full choke.
