Handgun groupings?
#2
25 Yard groups with a Beretta Neos, odd little gun but darn accurate. The first is a 10 shot group from a bench/sandbags, the second is three 5 shot groups from two handed weaver stance. As you can see I used junk ammo on sale for $5 a brick, Neos didn't seem to mind. I do just a little better with my Kimbers (.22 and .45) using match ammo. I do have the advantage of match training and shooting thanks to the USMC but this generally represents a good average day for me.

Thanks USMC!!
I was begining to think that no one shot handguns anymore!!!
JUST KIDDING GUYS!!!!!
I was just curious as to how I'm doing. I have a S&W Model 22A (22LR) and last night I was shootingoffhand (I'm not sure what weaver stance is) anyway, I have some cheapy Federals from Walmart and at 25 yards I kept 10 shots inside a 6" circle.
I just have that gun for plinking and playing so I didn't think that was too bad, but looking at your groups I have some room to improve!
Thanks again USMC
And by the way, I also want to thank you forfighting for our country, which is the reason I'm even able togo out in my driveway last night and every other night, and shoot my guns.
I don't know how many of y'all are, or have beensoldiers, but I also deeply thank you as well.
Anymore responses to my little grouping question?

No thanks needed, I chose to enlist for the same reasons. Sounds like you are off to a good start, it takes LOTS of practice to shoot well unsupported at 25 yards with any handgun and stance. I have the chance to shoot almost every day which helps, even 15 or 20 mins. is better than nothing. Here is a linkwith info. on the weaver stance. http://www.nps.navy.mil/police/phase_training/lesson%20123.doc

I have the same S&W 22a. This is my first handgun. Truthfully, I'm still pretty aweful at shooting it. I have a target that is 6" and I can only keep an average of 5 of 10in the circle at 20 yards (not 25 like you are shooting) freehand.
I am getting better though. I was averaging only 2 just over a month ago.
I really do enjoy the gun i just don't get tothe range withit more than once a week.

Fellas I am not trying to make anyone feel bad here, nore brag, please. I will tell you this with complete honesty; I had never fired a handgun before enlisting at a young age. When I started PMI school I could barely hit the 25 yard target and it was MUCH BIGGER than 6"! With practice and being taught proper technique I improved. I bought my first handgun at 21 and shot everyday once off duty, after a year I qualified to shoot on the company pistol team and went from there. I am not the best by a long shot but proof that anyone has the ability.

That all depends on the gun.
I don't get to practice like I used to. At one time I was at the range usually 2 times a week during fair weather months, shooting 100 plus rounds per visit. Mainly with my P95 or Taurus 92. both using fixed combat sigths. With those I was in 6" at 25
Then another 50+ with the Taurus .44 special. (forgot the model #) and even though it is a 6" barrel and fixed sights I would do 3"-4" at 25 or put 5 out of 5 on the 10" steel plate at 50yards.
Now withthe .22 S&W model 49 or the Ruger Mark II, Off hand at 25 is under 2".
I'm still not in my fathers class though. He will play around with the .22s and shoot 24" steel plates at 200 yards. When he was still competing he could hit a 1 gal milk jug 6 out of 7, or better,at 200 yards with his 1911.
Then again, he shot between 100 and 200 rounds a day, 5 days a week, for most of the year.
