Default NEF Pardner 10ga.

Can anyone tell me if it is OK to shoot a rifled slug through this gun? It says on the barrel that it is full choke. There is not a choke tube, just a smooth barrel. I think it is fine but just want to make sure.

The generally accepted answer is a clear no....

i wouldnt do it............worst case you bust your barrel......best case nothing ..........most likely case......you will do a minimum of damage to the choke and it will worsen with repeat shots and eventually the barrel will let go or at least give crappy patterns when you go and shoot shot out of it.

Nope, barrel won't bust but you will never decently group scatter shot again.

I have been told most modern rifled slugs can be shot from a full choke without doing any damage. However I would not try it, and I doubt it would be very accurate.

If you have a 10 ga frame, get a 12 ga heavy barrel fitted to it and shoot 12 gauge slugs out of it. Basically it will be an Ultra slug hunter when you do that. The 12 ga Ultras are built on the 10 ga frame. Call H&R/NEF to see if you can do it. Probably cost you less than 150 bucks, the barrel is only 80 bucks. You have to send your gun in to get the barrel fitted though I think. Maybe a gun smith can do it for you? I don't know how H&R operates as far as that goes.

It will be fine. No point in buying expensive slugs either for a smooth bore. Just get yourself a box or two eachof Federal, Remington, and Winchester plain jane cheap foster type slugs and see what shoots best.

I gotta believe though that shooting that thing with slugs from thebench is gonna kick your butt into the next county. I suggest a slip on recoil pad at the least
