Big Country,

Drop Jim Pigg a line at [email protected], he does hundreds of Rem 700 triggersa year. He could tell you what he uses. He just finished one of mine, and it does not appear to be a loctiite like substance.

I have used clear finger nail polish but don' trust it. I was using bohning fletching glue cause its gooy and seems to stay. Just curious what the smiths use on here.
I have used Hard as nails clear nail polish and never ever had a screw come loose. Whatever Remington uses at the factory comes off with acetone same as the nail polish. You don't want something too aggessive otherwise you never get the screw to adjust properly. If you want to use loctite use BLUE.

He had to remove the glue or what ever it was before he could make the adjustment. Should I remove the barrel from the stock and put some loc-tit on the screws?
Not needed on a MOdel 70 there are 2 jam nuts on the poundage setting which will prevent movement

I think the reason the clear chipped away is there was oil residue on there, and I didn't degrease, but its been some time since it was adjusted.

Thanks guys.
