best slug guns

If you can find a Browning A Bolt slug gun grab it. Two of my friends have them and they shoot an awsome group. Very accurate and moderate to light in weight. Browning sold them for a short time only. They out shoot my Benelli Super Black Eagle which is a shame because of the lower priced A Bolt.

I have a new england firearms tracker II plus, which is the NEF special edition thing of the Ultra Slug Hunter Deluxe, Laminate stock, Heavy barrel, I have mine setup with a shell holder on the stock, and a bushnell banner 1.5-4x scope, and millet stell rings, and I get clover leafs of 3 shot groups at 50 yards with Winchester BRI slugs...The only down side, the weight, for stands its fine, but not for stalks, it weighs close to 14 pounds I believe, accurate lil gun and not too pricey

Well that's pretty good, when I did a search for ithaca guns nothing came up. I figured I would get a link to their website, but all I got was links to old reviews and an article saying they had closed in 2005. I guess google is NOT my friend. (I actually use yahoo and google)
I don't read every post on the forums, only the ones that interest me to be honest. I'm not a moderator so I don't have to read them all
. I have never had much interest in ithaca guns so I normally skip over the posts about them. Maybe I will have to go back and read some of them now.
.
Still doesn't sound like anything I would want to own though. Unless the prices have come waaaaaaay down. 800 bucks for a pump gun, I think I'll pass.

1). 800$ may be a conservative estimate...
2)Both yahoo and googlesearchs of "Ithaca guns" provides a direct link to there current website. In fact they are thefirst links at the top of the pages...I would have to guess maybe you saw the links and just assumed that it went to the old site...?

JCC is right they are back. Now in Ohio. Not sure about the new prices but when they were in kingsferry ny you could pick up a new model 37 deerslayer for around $500. Used are around $250. I got alot of model 37`s. It was what i was raised on. They tend to like federal slugs. they shoot the cleanest in them and the tightest groups.

That is odd, that link didn't come up when I did it before, on either site. Sometimes the internet is a strange place. I figured the first one would be a link to the manufacturers website but it wasn't.
I didn't know they had closed until I read it on one of the links I went to. I never saw any mention of them re-opening in ohio. Not too far from me either, under 100 miles from where I live.
I see you have a sticky about it at shotgunworld, guess I missed that[
].
Nice looking guns, but pretty heavy and expensive from what I can tell. I see they lightened the new ones up. I wonder if they will have the option to use the heavier barrel if you want?
I just looked at the tar hunt prices, I guess you won't be getting one for close to 800 bucks! Maybe twice that. You can have an 870 converted for under 500 bucks though if I read it right.
You paid over 2 grand for your rifle?!

Wow, that is more dedication than I will ever have. I just don't need to kill deer that badly
. Of course if I could afford it and wanted one I would probably have one. I'm just jealouse because I'm poor pretty much, well not pretty much, I'm poor
.

I bought the gun used from the original owner when it was 14 months old. Even after adding a 350$ scope I still don't have 2k in it...
However, to set the same gun up new from the factory would cost me about 3100$ all in...
In the end, (assuming you can afford the original purchase price), it really comes down to what the gun is worth if you were forced to sell it. I can tell you with full confidence, I can easily get back what I paid forthis setup.
(As an example, I almost doubled my money on a similar gun I bought last spring, then sold last fall....After which I repurchased an identical model for substantially less this spring....

Glad to hear you got a deal on it, and yes I am sure they have a good resale value (if you can find a buyer
).
I think it boils down to what YOU really want. I wouldn't think twice about spending a grand or two on a bow if I could afford it. Heck the one I have now I have more than 1200 into (I own five though). I would think nothing of spending that on stereo equipment either if I had it to spare. I had that into a set of speakers at one time.
I'm impressed you can get away with it being married though, you better keep that one. She's not bad on the eyes either. Of course you did let her shoot it, that helps. Or is it hers?
Those days are over for me though. Unless I win the lotto or something.
