Iwas at gandermountain today looking at the tikka i was thinking about purchasing, and i was talking to one of the employees (who seemed to know quite a bit about firearms) and he HIGHLY reccomended that i buy a SIG rifle over a tikka, but i know nothing about this type of gun. it was a slightly used SIG 30-06 with a nice Nikon scope allfor $499...compared to a new tikka which would alone be about $580....so if somebody could enlighten me about the SIGS that would be great

I will enlighten you - at those prices, the SIG is much the better buy, provided it is in excellent condition or better. SIG's have a reputation for outstanding accuracy (as do Tikkas of course), and toughness. It is hard to find a scoped SIG for the price he quoted you.
