Default .30/.30 Rifle...

Hey everyone, i was wondering whats the longest shot
you have ever killed a deer with the .30/.30, and what
cartridge do u use to do it. I am just curious bc it
used to be the most popular gun around.

thanx a lot

I've taken about a dozen deer with my Winchester 94 and the fartherst shot was about 45 yards. I use my 30-30 while I still hunt and all the shots are up close and personel. This gun has never failed me and I love it. I use Winchester 150 grain power points.

If you are wondering about how far you can shoot with a 30-30, then my guess is that you need another gun! I'm sure you are going to hear that the 30-30 has killed at 300+ yards! The reality of it is that it is a 150 yard gun. So if you THINK you might need more than that, go for a flatter shooting caliber! I'm sure you will also hear that the 30-30 has killed more deer than all other calibers too. That is probably true too, but it has also probably missed and crippled more than it's share too!
If you are going to shoot at 100-150 yards and you are good with it fine! Just don't stretch it!

With a scope, you can get 200 yds. out of it. I'd stick to 150 yds with iron sights.

I've killed several between 150 and 200 yds. with one shot, never counted the steps to be more specific than that.

if you can hit them in the vitals at 200 yds., it will work very well out to that range. if you can't, then you'll most likely kill him, but he'll run for miles first.

I have taken deer with it out to about 190yds but this is a bolt action with 130grSP handloads and pratice, 150 would be the top end for most guns and shooters.
