Yeah shoot a 10 gauge![8D]get em a little closer.
Seriously though, Remington ammo has always patterned the worst in my turkey guns.
Winchester supreme 3 in. #6's seems to workthe best in my Browning with Undertaker choke. Still, its only a 40 yard gun at best.

I'm a turkey shooting nut. I mean paper shoots. I put a 28" barrel on my 1100, lengthened the forcing cone and shoot a .675 choke in competition. For giggles, I tried this gun (a barrel only chambered in 2 3/4") with turkey loads. It outshot my 30" straight full choke barrel.

I shot #6 federal turkey loads in 2 3/4" and I CONSISTENTLY get 15+ BB's in the kill zone at 40 yards...and that's with a 2 3/4" load.

At 50yds it's around10 BB's in kill zone.

Lengthening/polishing the forcing cone seems to be the ticket to more dense patterns. I know for a fact that I get a ton less fliers than I used to. I shoot at big papers with this gun...and now my pattern is "patternable". LOL

i could probably call mine a 50yd turkey gun......my factory choke wasnt too good.....threw patterns like yours...even looser....after season i bought an HS strut Hevi shot undertaker tube and a box of remington high velocity #6 hevi shot.....at 35yds i put 187 hits on a 10x10 sheet of paper.......BUT....all my standard lead turkey loads in all sizes patterend ALOT better.....i got 4 hevishots left.....thatll get me through the season.....if not i got a bunch of lead loads....ill buy more hevishot when its 5 bucks a box after the season.....then do extensive pattern testing....and ill be working at walmart so ill check daily.....i know you guys hate walmart but as sad as it is to say its one of the higher paying jobs for teenagers in my area....and they offered me alot....i didnt wanna work there but i need money.........ill hafta do some pattern testing on actual turkey targets and do actual counts but they should be pretty nice....the density i got and a center mass pattern was enough to make me happy......the choke did it all for me though..the hevi shot DID pattern the best....but the lead loads i shot also patterned very nicely....btw..my gun is an 870 express mag turkey gun...3 inch mag 21inch barrel...both chokes are extended...

try a mad max choke tube. they are a little expensive but they work from my experience. the one i got for a mossberg 835 and it guarantees 40 shot in a turkeys head at 40 yds. it work like that to. they run around $60. its taken turkeys as far as 70yds and actually hit and knocked down a turkey with 3.5" at around 80-85 yds. sounds unbelievable but its true. the chokes say that they patterns improve 30% plus

The turkey I took on Thurs was 55 yds away according to my rangefinder. I used a XF remington choke in my 870 supermag. 3.5" #5's. He didnt go further than 10yds

Slugman, thats my setup, but I won't take a 55 yard shot. All week, I had gobblers within 49 yards but let em walk.

But I got some more ammo, need to try to pattern some more.

So back to the question, whats your patterns look like at 55 yards.

Federal 3" Heavy Mag with the Flite control wad #6 shot and use a extended choke tube with no ports... Use the Gold as well and ditch the 870 ..barrel is back bored and it will pattern better any day of the week.

I used the gold all week besides one day. It patterned well with the remington shells also. I will try the feds as well. I picked up some winchester selects too.

BC i have a new found respect for the Gold...I thought they were Jap made to be quite honest but they are a very good shotgun and are right there with the overpriced Benelli,Beretta group.. I can guarantee you that Brownings customer service is miles ahead of Beretta
