but I won't take a 55 yard shot.
Prior to last Thursday I wasnt sure about taking one either. However I did and the turkey tasted great. Next time I go to the range I'll shoot the same setup and take a pic for you. Truth is I dont know how many pellets are in the "zone" @ 55yds. My gun was set up for 40yds, but worked @ 55.

Sure Slugman, anybody can get lucky and even fire at 80 yards and may have enough energy for one pellet to hit the brain of a turkey.

I like hunting for me. I just won't take a shot I am not sure about. But you glad you got em. Hope you don't continue to throw out shot with a prayer only.

Don't mean to dog ya, just not sure why you would take a shot like that.

But you just did. I had enough pellets at 40yds to be sure if my shot at 55. I dont shoot to shoot , When I squeeze the trigger, I'm gonna make the shot. If your not comfortable with your equipment/skills dont "dog" rest of us that are. In my years of hunting I have wounded only 1 animal. It still bugs me to this day.

I don't know what your defintion of this is, but it sure ain't "confidense in your skills and equipment", its lets see what happens when I pull the trigger.

I used to be like them when I was like 20. But not anymore.

Mark, IMHO, there is a difference between a turkey hunter and a turkey shooter!

Guess those 4 days of calling & setting up decoy's isnt hunting. You can get off your soapboxes now. I'll take a 55yd shot again too, since he dropped where he stood. You guys keep counting pellets and I'll eat my Turkey. Done on the subject.

You know I have never been turkey hunting..I might actually go next year. Area I hunt deer in Alabama is just literally exploding with Turkeys. My best friend(landowner) there has gotten the itch to go Turkey hunting finally after all these years. He shoots an 11-87 with a Jellyhead Chokeand the Federal loads with the flitecontrol wad and gets terrific patterns at 40 yards. He sees no reason not to shoot at longer range with heavy shot if the gun can deliver the pattern and energy at that range. Now mind you he uses a holosight as well ...
