I just picked up in a sweet trade for a kayak a pristen 1971 Ithaca (Tikka) LSA65 bolt in 06. The gun is drilled & tapped and also has the Weaver clawfoot dove tails machined into the top of the receiver. While I am not much of a Weaver mount fan I am having difficulty finding the Leupold or Burris mounts to fit this gun, does anybody have a set of bases or a model number to search for. I have also noticed that the front sight is permenantly attached to the barrel and it is huge! Sticks up a good 3/4" and looks as though it would be visible in the scope view. Anyone else encounter this and what is the remedy if it is a problem. I like to keep the scope as tight to the gun as possible thus keeping my head in a more natural position. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.

You might indeed be able to see the front sight blade in your scope. This is particularly true on a low-mag. setting like 2.5X or lower. It certainly makes NO DIFFERENCE AT ALL, as your scope will "see around" thesight so that the target will not be obscured!
