Isn't allowed in my state. Doesn't mean I don't carry a pistol if I have to travel or work in a bad neighborhood.

I got my permit to carry in Alaska, and shortly thereafter our governor decided we didn't need them anymore. I wish I would have known he was going to do that before I spent the $200. Alaska is like Vermont; anyone legally allowed to own a handgun may carry it. Even non-residents can carry concealed in Alaska.

I would love to live in Alaska, I would love to visit Vermont! But i'm pretty happy here in Alabama, where I've had a ccw since 1976. I just went to the Tallapoosa Co. sherriffs office and paid my $10 and was good to go for 1 year. Now it's gone up to $15 and I complained about having to pay to exercise my constitutional rights! The sheriff ask me would I rather just move to D.C and I said ( hell no)!

I have had my permit for 10 years and do carry a weapon everyday. I originally got my permit to just carry in my truck, but with all the crazy stuff happening in the world, I now carry on me daily.

By the way, my wife is an english teacher and was looking over my shoulder when I read this post. She cringed. She wanted me to let squirrelkilla know the "leagally" should be "legally".

My wife is an english teacher also.

BTW...10 years of carrying concealed, on occasion. The bad guys will just have to guess if it's their lucky day, or NOT.

My state, IL, does not issue any carry permits, and does not honor those from any other state. IL is one of the last 4 to 6 holdouts depending on how you do your math. There are two states that technically issue permits, but only a small handfull of influential and connected people ever get them.
Some days I think our Governor and Chicago's Mayor would keep the police from having guns if they thought they would stay in power without them.

Anyway,IL residentsalso need to apply for, and be granted, a Firearm Owners Identification Card just to handle a gun in a store or buy ammo. Kinda overkill if you asked me, but such is the state of things right now.

Hopefully one day, all the states will see the light that having good guys carrying guns is the best thing we could have to defend the general population. I'm actually hoping for nationwide reciprocity to keep travelling with a CW simple, but I won't hold my breath.

I have had my PA permit for several years but rarely carry. When I first got it, all those years ago, I carried all the time. Maybe its time I get mea new pistol and start packing again?
