Is This a fair price on a savage 99?
I just put a savage model 99 on lay away at gander mt. It is in 300 sav. caliber and is in about 98%++ condition...the wood is flawless (there are absolutly no dings or scratches)and has a snauble forend on it. The lever on it is case colored and is about 99% ++ there are no extra holes, it is all original.
I have seen some of these in far worse condition go for $675. or more at gun shows (if they are all original.) I purchased this one for $425.00
Ithaught this was a deal...what do you guys think?

I picked up an excellent condition Model 99 in 250-3000. Just a couple months ago. I was in a pawn shop when a guy brought it in. I gave 400.00 for it. I have seen the 250's go for a 1000.00 at gun shows.

Sounds like you guys did pretty well. I have a 99 in 300 sav and I love it. It's also a real tack driver. One thing you have to keep in mind though is that there are a lot of variations of the 99 and it is likely that the rarer ones are the ones going for $1000 at shows. I know the 250-3000s are fairly rare but many of them are fairly common. The one I have is probably worth 350-450 at best. These are becoming more collectible, and just like an old 94....you have to be exactly sure of what it is you are buying.

my uncle has a sav. 99 in 22 savage hi-power.
i went to a gun show a few weeks ago and a man had one like my uncles but was in much worse condition and wanted $1200 for it. i would like to get one some time but i don't have the funds for it right now.
