Model 101 Win over and under info?
I have bought recently a model 101 Winchester over and under and
I think it was made in the mid 60's to early 70's. Does anyone have
any info about this gun and about the $ worth? Also does anyone
know if it would be ok to shoot steel shot in it? The gun looks like it
has walnut stock and forearm that look beautiful. It had a little rust
on the outside of the barrells and I got it cleaned off but the inside
of the barrells were as clean as a whistle. It has lots of fancy engraving
on the reciever. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hello. From the sounds of it, probably around $1200 to $1500. They also made a pigeon grade.......$2500. I would not shoot steel shot thru it. I would buy a cheap pump or autoloader to shoot steel, I assume for waterfowl. Those barrels were made to shoot lead. Shoot all the skeet and trap, Quail, Dove etc you want. That old 101 doesn't need to be in a marsh anyway! Regards, Rick.

The 101 that my father has is a real treasure.........It is one of the prettiest guns Ive ever seen. When we had it appraised about 10 years ago it was worth around $1000. The guy who did the appraisal said that they were offered with different barrel lengths 28" and 30". I believe the 30" was worth more, Dads is a 28". I also remember the smaller guages were worth more money also, I think the 28 guage was the most. That was a while ago, so I cant be 100% positive that what I remember is accurate, I am stuggling to remember.

Thanks for the info guys. I had no idea that it would be worth that
much. I forgot to mention that it is a 12 gauge and chambered for
3" shells and has 28" barrels, top modified choke and bottom full
choke. I am glad that I didn't shoot any steel shot in it and it will
be well taken care of.
