Default Front sight hood

How do you get the front sight hood off a Marlin 336? It looks like it is just "sprung" on there, do I need to grab it with a couple needle nose plyers and pry it off?

If it is held on by tension, use a pair of snapring pliers.

Just push it foward and it will slide off.
