Has anyone heard any reports on this ammo? Anyone used it yet?

Nope, but I am waiting to hear too before I look into reloading any or buying anything.

I have been pretty disappointed these days with the new whiz bang items.

I hear you on that. I looked at the ballistics and the .45-70 is just a little better than the Win PGs I'm using. The real news is the .30-30 ammo. That puts that caliber out to 200 yards, if it works at stated.

Graf's announced it in a flyer about two weeks ago, but their website showed it out of stock. Just checked Midway, and they show it in stock and ready to ship.

Mossy,
In the past 2 weeks, I have stood in Gander Mountain with the new Federal 30-30 Fusion in my hands and talked myself out of them both times. At 12.99 a box, I just don't see how much more dead the deer will be than with my favorite $7.99- $8.99 WinchesterPowerpoints.

It would be neat to test those Hornadys at 200 yards though. I'm sure I willend upgiving them a try.

Yes, there's a report on the 160-grain .30/30 round in G&Athis month. The Hornady-claimed MV of 2400 FPS was not realized in the two Marlins used (20" barrels). They only got around 2200. In addition, the B.C. of the "pointed" 160-grain bullets was only .330, whereas the 170-grain flatnose is around .250. Some improvement, but not much!! IMO, it is just a gimmick to sell more ammo!

And, as usual, the "experts" are fully cooperating with the maker's marketing department, writing it up as if it were the latest improvement on canned beer or sliced bread!

dont they always?? I mean seriously do you ever watch or read any of the hunting shows/magazines and take what they are saying as gospel when it comes to them trying to sling one of the products? And then magically at the end of the show in the credits it will say "this show brought to you by...." the same company they were just showcasing. Whats even funnier is when a big company like Realtree switches alligences after a year or two. Like back when they used to use Remington rifles, and speak highly of them, now that they are in bed with Greg Ritz and TC they all magically shoot and praise the Encores!!!! I just shake my head. Just like cheap ho's out for the money!!
