Amazing Ballistics on 7mm
I was looking at the hornady reloading book. I may be crazy but the 7mm had great ballistics shooting the 162 grain A Max. The B/C is .625. What causes this caliber and bullet to outperform the big magnums past 300 yards. Anyone have any input on this gun/bullet combo?

Rebel,
When I say past 300 yards I am meaning 300-1000yards. This bullet in that caliber surpasses velocities, energy, and drop than those posted by the 300 RUM, 300 Weatherby, 30-378.

Of course you could launch the 240gr matchking with a bc of .711 at the same velocity out of a 30-378 that you could launch the 162gr a-max out of the 7mmremmag.

Stubble,
I did hear that you could shoot that 240gr match king. Is that 162 A max a good bullet?
Clarify on the gun I was looking at was a 7MM STW and 7MM Weatherby. Those ballistics outshined the 300RUM and 300 Weatherby. Is this that good of a bullet gun combination?

Got my book out,
7MM 162gr A max at 3200FPS muzzle velocity
at 800 yards with 300 yard 0.
energy 1526
velocity 2060
drop -99.1
300 Rum shooting a 168gr A max 3300 FPS
at 800 yards
energy 1247
velocity 1829
drop -107.2
I didn't know that the 7mm was such a boomer.
