I went over to the gun Shop and picked up my new 700 ADL Synthetic 270 today. I picked up a set of Weaver bases and a couple boxes of Federal Fusion 130 grain ammo. If they turn out to be a good load, I won't try to work up a load for this year. I have read good stuff about the Fusion ammo on a couple other webb sites. The gun looks good and feeds well. The trigger has no creep what so ever but its a little heavy. About five lbs. I checked the function of the saftey and stuff. I have never had a problem with a 700 and I have had a lot of them. I hope to get to the range with the chronograph and check out the groups. I have two Aetec and two Leupold scops to pick from as well as a Scheels Hunter scopes. Two are 3x9 and two are 4x12. Have not decided which to put on it. I had the gun on layaway. I plan to use this 270 and my NEF 7mm-08 this year for mule deer.

They were selling for 327.00. I got it at Scheels All Sports. I have had the scopes on the shelf for a few years. I also have an M8 4X scope on the shelf. I bought a few new scopes when they changed the Aetecs and when the changed over to the new Leupolds. I missed the 700's when they were selling for 299.00.[:@]

I just went out and tried those same Federal fusions in my .270. THey grouped right at an inch - 1.25 inch in the very short and rushed range session last Sunday. I hope to have more time this weekend and try them some more. I think they can do much better than what I got this time.
I also tried the 165 grain fusions out of my 300 WSM I built. It has a #3 contour barrel cut at 25.5 inchel long so it's a bit whippy
and heats up very quickly but it managed to consistantly make two shots touch and the third strayed about 1.25 inches from the first two. I imagine if I have the time to let the barrel cool between shots it will group very very well with them.
I think they are going to be an excelent all around bullet for everything from deer to moose.

Ihave that identical Remington 700.Mine has a old Redfield 3x9 Illuminator on it.I have shot more deer with that Remington. Great little rifle.Mine likes the Rem. CoreLokts. It and some of my M-77'swill be going to slay a few more next week. That was a good price. I paid 329.00 about 9 years ago @ Wally World.

I just mounted my VX-l 3-9 on it and put the bore sighter on and got it zeroed that way. Now I am ready to go to the range and sight in and chronograph the Fusions. To windy today. It was gusty and about 30 MPH.[:@]
