Roscoe, Bigcountry: I did some looking and searching and it turns out you guys were correct. Iron will oxidize before the copper will and its possible that copper can drive an electrochemical reaction to oxidize the iron. I humbly stand corrected.

Holy Cow, Brimans a chemist. And a gun collector. I wonder how many lists you are on.

Just jokin. Thanks guys been a good discussion.

Here's my thing. I am a tinkerer. Its just my nature. Its one of my biggest strengths and weakness. I have had my Harley tore apart and from one part of the house to another. Why, cause I didn't like the way the hoses looked. After I had it tore apart, I looked back, and asked myself if I lost my mind.

So as most on here, I dearly love my longguns. I love to admire them and look at them, shoot them. But I have to tinker. So I try all the new products but always seem to come back to sweets.

Anyway, thanks guys.

There's a new kid on the block..."TM"...I've used them all for many years and the ultimate winner is "TM"...clean your rifle with whatever your normal routine is and then with "TM"..you'll toss out the rest and that's a promise...great stuff !!

Are you talking about TM Solution sold by Sinclair Int'l? If so, I've got a bottle on hand and have used it a little bit. I really haven't been impressed with it. I use it for powder fouling and I think MPro-7 or Shooter's Choice (mixed with Kroil)do a little better job.

Thanks, Briman. There are some things that you know happen, but don't know exactly how they happen. Thanks for researching and explaining the process. Roskoe.
