Remington Model 740 and 742...interchangeable???
Does anyone know if the barrel from a model 742 is interchangeable with the model 740? Both barrels are 30-06. I read the Remington site and it states that there were only a few mods between the two models. I wonder if the barrel was changed. I just bought a Model 740 and would like to get a newer barrel. Mine is missing the blueing.

Because of some in-line production changes,finding out from the factory would be your best bet.Headspace is a concern as well.Here is there # 1-800243-9700. hope i helpled vangunsmith
